The Louisiana Scandals reported in the New Orleans States sends Governor Richard Leche and LSU President James Monroe to jail for corruption. Earl K. Long becomes unelected acting governor until next years election Dixieland music flourishes with trumpeter Sharkey Bonano King Oliver dies in Savannah, Ga. The Federal Building at 600 South St. completed this year is now called the F. Edward Hebert Building after the late Congressman. The design called WPA shows bas reliefs symbolizing Agriculture and Industry. CCC planted slash pine in the Kisatchie National Forest. CCC reforestation and construction of dams, roads, fire towers & recreation areas (1933-42) contributed to a rebirth in Vernon Parish s forest industry.
