On April 10, 1912 according to the Daily Picayune, aerial mail service came to New Orleans. George Mestach took 91 minutes to fly from New Orleans} City Park Racetrack to the LSU athletic field in Baton Rouge and he did it with one eye closed since the glass on one side of his goggles broke shortly after takeoff. He only got lost once over Lutcher. |
