Samuel Levi Wells II

Born in the area of Manchac, Louisiana

Family moves to Opelousas area.
1785
After learning skills as a surveyor from his father Samuel moves to the Poste de Rapides.
1785
The family settles on Spanish land grants along Bayou Rapides and Bayou Boeuf. Samuel is married to a Miss Bonner some time during this period. The marriage produces two children before his young wife dies.
1794
Marries for a second time to Mary Elixabeth Calvit. This marriage will produce eight children.
1800
February 7
Son Monfort Wells is born.
1806
January 30
Son Thomas Jefferson Wells is born.
1808
January 8
Son James Madison Wells is born.
1812
Member of 1812 continental convention.
1816
June 10
Dies on his plantation in Rapides Parish.
