Marries Caroline Trudeau, the daughter of Charles Laveau Trudeau. They have five children. Thomas establishes a mercantile business with his younger brother David. Having achieved a Captain's license he often took the firm's ships to Europe. |

Thomas is elected to the Board of Directors of the Bank of Louisiana, the New Orleans Insurance Company and the New Orleans Navigation Company. He is later the president of both the Bank of Louisiana and the New Orleans Insurance Company. |
