William Kenner, 1774-1824

Born in Virginia.
1797
Serves as Justice of Peace for Adams County, Mississippi.
1800
Moves to New Orleans establishes merchantile partnership with Stephen Henderson.
1801
November
Marries Mary Minor, daughter of Stephen Minor, the last Spanish governor of Mississippi. Three daughters and four sons.
1804
December
Member of Legislative Council.
1805
Serves on the Board of Directors for the New Orleans Branch of the United States Bank of Philadelphia.
Member of Christ Church Cathedral (Episcopal), the first Protestant church in New Orleans.
1820
Suffers business reverses when a partner disappears with the company assets. Kenner owns two plantations: Linwood in Ascension Parish and Oakland in Jefferson Parish where the city of Kenner is presently located.
1824
May 10
Dies.
