Accused of financial dishonesty along with his brother Bienville, Chateaugue is investigated by ordonnateur Martin Diron d'Artaguiette. He is exonerated and retains his rank and position. |

He negotiates a peace between Chickasaw and Choctaw tribes. |

During a war between France and Spain he takes Bay St. Joseph where he built a fort that is abandoned two months later. Subsequently he surrenders Pensacola to a superior Spanish force and is imprisoned in Havana until July of 1720. |
