When the Territory of Orleans is divided into counties the present-day Vernon Parish is part of theNeutral Ground
1835
Methodist services in Vernon Parish began in 1826. The Grove Methodist Church was organized in 1835 by Reverend James Ford, one of the circuit riders who served it.
