Parish Info

Like the parish, this town was named after Edward Livingston, a distinguished statesman who moved to Louisiana in 1803. Livingston became the parish seat in 1941. Settlement began in 1917 as a result of the timber boom times in the area. Two railroads crossed at this location near the center of the parish and eventually U. S. Highway 190 and Interstate 12 were built nearby, making this an ideal location for the seat of government. Incorporated in 1955.
