Parish Info

In the 1870s a family moved into this locality during the winter months and attempted to build a water mill. There was plenty of water in the stream at the time, but before the mill was completed they found out that the creek went dry during the summer. A sawmill was later completed on a nearby creek that ran year-round but the name Dry Prong remained as a community began to grow around it.

A railroad was built through the area in 1905 and agriculture and timber began to attract more people and prosperity. Dry Prong was incorporated as a village in 1945.
