Parish Info

Angie is located on State Highway 21 just south of the Mississippi border. This community is named after Angeline McMillan who moved to the area with her husband from the Carolinas in the gold rush year of 1849. A tiny settlement slowly grew as the family established a small mercantile store.

The community expanded when the New Orleans and Great Northern Railroad was built through the area in 1907 to serve the lumbering industry. Angie was one of the few communities to survive when the forests were nearly cleared in the 1920s.
