 PageDescription
1. Map The maps in Encyclopedia Louisiana are not drawn to a particular scale but they are proportionally correct. The purpose of these Maps is to provide a place to put hyperlink buttons that visually connect the casual browser to other information. Move the cursor around the map and find out what additional information you can discover.
2. Highway A Highway page will give a short description or history of a highway, but most of the page is dedicated to moving you to information about communities and other points of interest along the highway.
3. Parish
Economy
A parish economy page will give the visitor a snapshot of the community's economic infrastructure. Links to a companion page provide quality of life and lifestyle information about the parish.
4. TimeLine A timeline page is divided into three parts:
A global context section which gives events in other parts of the world;
A calendar which gives month to month events in Louisiana;
and a catch-all section which relates events with no specific date in the year.
The Time Line is most complete at this time from the year 1803 to 1820.
As with any page you can use your browser’s "Find on page..." Command to search for a particular subject.

5. Biography A Biography page provides an outline of the life of a historical person or current personality in Louisiana.
The selected page is Gilberto St. Maxent, who achieved great wealth and fame during the French and Spanish Periods of Louisiana history. Links to other people and to timeline years will provide clues to our culture during his lifetime.

6. Community A Community page will provide local information about one of the more than 300 cities towns and villages in Louisiana.
7. Historic
Marker
There are over 300 State Markers and many private markers which describe local history.
This marker leads to details about an area near Baton Rouge that was an international boundary for many years.

8. French
Quarter
Each French Quarter block is packed with almost 300 years of exciting history. Links to biography and timeline pages will provide the details.
9. Newspapers The Newspaper pages are new, but they will provide a guideline to resources for discovering information that even Encyclopedia Louisiana does not yet have.
The encyclopedia is dedicated to helping people find resources and meaningful information

10. State Parks These state parks and commemorative areas provide inexpensive recreation and nature facilities for visitors and residents. Try them out.
